There are many places to get sushi in the city of Chicago, but for me there is one sure fire place. That place is Yuzu. Located in West Town, between a few Mexican restaurants, it really seems out of place, but for the people who know about it its a gem. Its small, so if your going during peak dinner times be prepared to wait. With that said, it is worth it, if your willing to stick it out. Infusing music and art with their food, it not only tastes great but its almost a shame to eat it when it gets to your table. As for music, well just take a look at some of their names for the rolls; #THUGLIFE2, Whats My Name, Over the Rainbow, & Motown Effect.
The staff is great! I have been there twice, during both the day and night time and I haven’t had a bad experience. For starters, I’d go with the Bang Bang Shrimp, not feeling shrimp then go for the classic Edamame. For dinner, I recommend the spicy Breaking Bad (tempura soft shell shrimp, grilled asparagus, mayo, mixed spices, avocado, cucumber, scallions, seared tuna and fried ginger) and the Over the Rainbow (tuna, salmon, super white tuna, avocado, unagi, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, sweet soy sauce) both rolls are amazing. I also love the fact that Yuzu is family friendly as well as casual. I would recommend some drinks but its BYOB so bring your favorite saki, beer, or wine and enjoy this chill sushi bar. I give it a solid 4 stars, Yuzu Sushi and Robata Grill is located on 1751 west Chicago Avenue, Chicago IL.
