Every Thursday we are going to Review something for #tbt, I picked an album for my first go round. Not just any Album but, arguably the best Wu-Tang album, the best Ghostface album, the most lyrically insane album, and one of the best produced albums in the last 15 years, Supreme Clientele.
Here is where I would typically do a review about the album and tell you the highlights of the album, how the production is so good, how the features kill it but, since its been fire for 15 years you should know all that by now. I’m going to tell you a little story behind this album. Me and this album we have a history.
It was February 8th 2000, I remember it like it was yesterday. I picked up my girlfriend to go get some grub and watch a movie at Ford City (when it was still ok to go) but, first I had to stop off at Best Buy. At the time you had to go to Best Buy to pick up your CD’s, anyhow she said she was going to wait in the car. So I went in copped GhostFace’s Supreme Clientele. Man I was so hyped for this album, after Only Built for Cuban Linx and IronMan I knew Supreme would be extra fire. I got in the car and put on the CD, and my girl quickly turned it off and said “can we not listen to that crap today”, my jaw dropped. I said to her “this album WILL go down as one of the best hip hop albums of all time. OF ALL TIME!” Mind you I haven’t heard anything from it yet, not a single track. Her response was “I just don’t want to hear that crap today”. I’m over here like I’ve been waiting for this album for 4 years, I’m playing it. So I told her “if you don’t like it get out because I’m listening to it” so she called my bluff and got out of the car. Well I called her bluff and drove away. Bye Felicia! Didn’t look back and till this day that album stays one of the best hip hop albums of all time its obviously on my top 5 of all time. I give it 5/5 stars, this album never gets old.
Oh and by the way I did go back looking for her ok! She was there in awe of what I did I said sorry and drove her home. But guess what she didn’t touch the radio the whole way to her house and guess what was playing the whole way there. SUPREME CLIENTELE!
